For its 7th season Peggy Tanous, who lasted just one season (Season 6) was replaced by Heather Dubrow and so the 7th season of “The Real Housewives of Orange County’ starred original housewife Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Barney, Gretchen Rossi, Alexis Bellino and the aforementioned Heather Dubrow.
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” is produced by Evolution Media for Bravo, with partners Douglas Ross, Gregory Stewart and Kathleen French along with Scott Dunlop and Kevin Lee serving as executive producers.
Now that both parts of the Reunion have aired, we have the final numbers for the 7th season and ratings were just higher than last season’s 6th season. The regular episodes averaged 1,945,500 versus 1,899,308, an increase of 2.43% but worringyly the 18-49 demo dropped from 1.04 to 0.98. With both Reunions included, then again Season 7 just, but only just pipped Season 6; 1,971,091 versus 1,969,867 an increase of 0.06%. Again the 18-49 demo showed an even greater decline from 1.07 to 0.98 which was largely due to the 2nd part of the Reunion this season only scoring 0.80 as it was aired at an very early time and on a different day (Moved to help RHoNY)
Last night, in a change to the original schedule, Bravo TV execs brought forward the 2nd part of the RHOC seventh season reunion, as an attempt to boost the ratings of RHoNY which have been badly flagging this season. Bringing it forward by 24 hours from its normal Tuesday timeslot of 9/8c to a Monday at 8/7c risked alienating some RHOC fans but it was hoped that a strong lead-in would help RHoNY.
In our weekly projections we estimated that RHOC would pull in between 1.7-1.9m and it beat that coming in at 1,941,000 with 0.80 in the 18-49 demo. If it had aired initially on a Tuesday it would have been expected to pull around 2.4m viewers but Bravo obviously felt it was worth a small hit to the RHOC’s season average to help its sister franchise.
After a one week break due to the July 4th holiday week, the first of the Real Housewives of Orange County reunions aired last night, and at the 9pm airing of RHOC, 2,513,000 viewers tuned in. That was just slightly higher than the 2,504,000 that tuned in for the finale on June 26th. Despite having a slightly smaller total audience, that June finale episode scored 1.30 in the 18-49 demo whereas last night’s reunion scored a tenth of a percent less, getting 1.20 in the 18-49 demo.
Last night the 2nd part of the finale of RHOC aired and it had a tall order in trying to beat the stellar ratings garnered by season six’s finale. When that first aired in June 5th, 2011 it scored RHOC’s best ever ratings with 2,875,000 tuning in, and it scored 1.40 in the 18-49 demo. On Tuesday night, the 2nd part of the two part finale did break 2.5m for the first time this season, as 2,504,000 (1.30 18-49) tuned in to see the demise of Tamra & Vicki’s friendship. This pushed the 7th season average up to 1,945,500 and 0.98 in the demo. That’s a total audience growth compared with the regular season 6 episodes of 2.43% however there was a slight drop in the coveted ad buyers demo from 1.04 down to 0.97 – a reduction of 5.63%. However, with that consistency of audience numbers, it’s safe to say that with numbers like that, that we’ll get to see the OC wives back on Bravo TV’s screens, sometime in 2013.

All you need to do is check the comments on their respective blogs on the Bravo website to see that Tamra is getting the majority of negative feedback. It’s very very obvious. Its up to the network now to do what’s right for the viewers and ditch the most poisonous one. Tamra is definetely a huge turn off for me, and I know I would watch the show more regularly if she was off.
Every housewives show needs a character we love to hate..Tamera is that girl..and she knows what she needs to do to stay on the show.
I disagree, i think all the women portay a little of all of us inside. Vicki is hard working & is a good mother. Gretchen is trying to live her life but is uncertain of her future. Alexis is living her life the best she can & a good mother/ wife. Alexis has made great successes in the working world when compared to previous seasons where she isn’t working. Heather brings a lot of class & is down to earth. Heather neuralizes the craziness.
Tamara is evil, manipulative, & a bully. I got a reply via email from tamara telling me to stop watching the show & i don’t know anything about tv. Who does that? Only tamara who can’t help being nasty to viewers & her “friends”.
Wow. What nerve Tamra has to tell a viewer to stop watching. That’s no different than if you worked in a store and told a customer to go shop somewhere else, because they complained about your behavior. I wish she’d get fired. I also feel she committed sexual battery/harassment against Heather and Vicki on the beach in Costa Rica.
I think you should twitter Andy Cohen about what Tamra did. What right does she have emailing you. That show is not hers and now she is bullying the viewers. We should start a petition to kick her off the show. Bravo listened to the fans when it came to dropping Jill Zarin. If you are going to put yourself out there on national tv then you are going to have be willing to take all comments.
Please get rid of Alexis. she lies and sick of her stuck up self. her husband is a big nothing, smells too.
