With no cast changes from the 4th season which aired in 2011, Madison Hildebrand, Josh Flagg and last season newcomer Josh Altman return for another season of Million Dollar Listing – LA set to run with more LA Real Estate drama.
“Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” is produced by World of Wonder for Bravo with Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Todd Radnitz serve as Executive Producers.
Last season it aired first on Thursdays and then switched to Tuesday nights for its 6th episode (the highest rated one). This season it replaced Jeff Lewis’s ‘Interior Therapy‘, taking the Wednesday 9/8c time slot. The premiere drew slightly under 900,000 viewers dropping 13% from its 4th season premiere but it’s 2nd episode which aired opposite TNT’s return of Dallas, grew 8% against its prior week’s ratings to 968,000. At press time it was the only show on Bravo of the 6 first run shows that have aired this week that grew over its prior week’s ratings. Although we expect that Kim Zolciak’s wedding tomorrow night will also achieve that accolade
After 2 weeks it is averaging 10% lower, both in total audience and demo compared to its 4th season.
Final Season 5 Update
The 10th and finale episode of the 5th season of MDL- LA, aired on Wednesday, August 15th and not only did it score a season high viewership but a series high, as well. A massive 1,589,000 tuned in to the finale and it scored an impressive 0.70 in the 18-49 demo; a feat it’s never attained before. This massive 64% increase over the prior week’s episode increased the season average to 1,028,400 which is just ever so slightly under Season 4′s of 1,031,000. The finale demo of 0.70 managed to push the 18-49 demo average for this season just higher than last, and so that’s a very good sign for Bravo’s advertising dollar return and ensures there’ll be a 6th season as well.
Against the Olympics telecast on sister net NBC, the 9pm airing of MDL – LA has performed reasonably well, in fact this week’s ninth episode with 972,000 viewers and last week’s with 978,000 are the 4th & 3rd highest of the season so far, and both are slightly above this season’s average of 966,111.
Season 4 only had 9 episodes and averaged 1,031,000 and that means that Season 5 is trending down by 6.29%. Bravo is finding itself in a bad position with very few of its freshman shows getting much ratings traction, which will ensure that mature shows like MDL-LA, will continue to get renewed even as they approach or pass their ‘sell-by-date’
At 9pm, MDL-LA dropped back below 1m viewers after two weeks where it scored above that, as just 978,000 watched the ‘Shark Out of Water’ episode with the 18-49 demo rating dropping down to 0.4 as well. Although that’s the third highest rated episode of this 5th season, that figure is just above the season average of 965,375 after 8 episodes. At the same stage in season four the average was 1,033,000 and some 2.5% higher than this season.
Earlier at 9/8c, the Los Angeles Real Estate gurus continued gaining ratings momentum. Last week’s 6th episode of Million Dollar Listing – LA was the first this season to break the 1m audience mark, and this week Madison, Josh & Josh built on that by a whopping 25.5% to a new season high of 1,269,000 viewers. That’s higher than any episode achieved in Season 4 and falls just short of the 2nd season finale (September 9th, 2008) which gained 1,272,000 viewers. With greatly improved ratings these past two weeks, MDL-La is now averaging 963,571 per episode and has closed the gap on Season 4′s average at the same stage to just 5% ( versus 1,014,400). If MDL-LA can do similar ratings next week as well, then they should come close to average the same as their prior season.
Last Wednesday night saw Avery Pursell in Uruguay winning the 1st season of Around the World in 80 Plates but the ratings winners of the night were Josh, Josh & Madison. For the first time in the 5th season of Million Dollar Listing – LA, it’s 9pm airing managed to exceed the 1m viewer mark, coming in with a total audience of 1,011,000 and with 0.50 in the 18-49 demo for their 6th episode. While it’s great that they breached one million, the comparable episode in the fourth season pulled 1,181,000 viewers and therefore this latest season is still trending downwards and is averaging 912,667 versus last season’s 1,025,000 at the same stage.
After MDL-LA & 80 Plates shows took a break last Wednesday for the July 4th Independence day celebrations, both shows returned this Wednesday. At 9pm, Million Dollar Listing – Los Angeles, hit a new season low of 841,000 viewers but held steady, as it has through all 5 episodes this season, with 0.40 in the 18-49 demo.
Earlier at 9pm Million Dollar Listing – LA aired, and the continuing real estate intrigue this season is failing to ignite audiences as much as it did last season when it broke the 1m viewer mark at least 5 times and for both its first two episodes. Last night it scored a respectable 916,000 with 0.40 18-49 demo, so it is headed in the right direction, as it aims for that magic 1m+ ratings figure.
The 3rd episode of ‘Million Dollar Listing LA‘ dropped 5.80% from last week with 844,000 viewers and the same 0.40 demo that ’80 Plates’ scored. Through 3 episodes,’MDL-LA’ is now averaging 902,667 down some 13.66% versus its 4th season.
