After the monumental ratings success of the 1st season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, it was rushed back into production for a second season but not before one significant cast change was made. DeShwan Snow, whose story lines in the first season seemed flat particularly when compared with the over the top drama provided by the 2 breakout stars; New York native, Nene Leakes and Connecticut original Kim Zolciak, found herself cut after just one season and replaced by Kandi Burruss. Kandi, who was born in Atlanta had been a former pop star with extensive song writing credits to her name, was successful in her own right and therefore a great role model for young African American women.
The 2nd season premiere debuted with a massive audience of 2,660,000 and by season’s end averaged over 2.8m, an increase of 88.91% over its first season. This season grew from the first’s of 8 episodes to have 14 total; 13 regular and 1 reunion.
