Tabatha Takes Over – Season 5 Ratings

Tabatha Takes Over

Updated after S05E12, the finale aired on June 27th, 2013.

After both Season 3 (the last season named Tabatha’s Salon Takeover and Season 4 averaged in excess of 1m viewers, Season 5, closed with a disappointing average of just 840,750 viewers (463,667 aged 18 to 49 years – demo 0.38). Those ratings were declines of -16.22% (total audience) & -24.55% (18-49 viewers) versus 2012′s 4th season and versus Season 3; -26.39% (total) and 36.51% (18-49).

The good news though for host Tabatha Coffey, is that those ratings might just be good enough to warrant an additional season, as they are higher than Around the World in 80 Plates which wasn’t renewed earlier this year, and was the highest rated show to be cancelled.

Full Season Summary

On April 4th, 2013 Bravo Media’s favorite Australian returned for the fifth season of Tabatha Takes Over. This season Tabatha Coffey has been given the unenviable Thursday 10pm time-slot. This is her fifth season overall and the second where Coffey takes her tough talk outside of hair salons and into other smaller establishments. However, based on the press release announcing the season, it seems that she’s mostly sticking with what she knows best as this season as eight of the businesses she’ll be visiting are either hair or beauty salons.

Season 3 which aired on Tuesday nights averaged 1,141,875 viewers (18-49 demo 0.56) and that dropped for Season 4 to just over 1m at 1,013,000 and an 18-49 demo of 0.48, when it moved to Monday nights last season. Given that two thirds of that fourth season benefited from having a strong lead-in with the record ratings seventh season of The Real Housewives of Orange County airing immediately prior, it will be interesting to see how well Tabatha does given that she’s airing on Thursday nights; a night which has been one of Bravo’s weakest for years and will not have any original programming as a lead-in.

Tabatha Takes Over” is produced by Shine America (formerly Reveille LLC) for Bravo with Eden Gaha, Paul Franklin, Tabatha Coffey, Page Hurwitz and Robin Feinberg serving as Executive Producers.

Updated after S05E06 Aired May 9th, 2013

Last Thursday saw the half way stage for Tabatha Coffey’s fifth season of Tabatha Takes Over, and for the second week running Tabatha’s show rated better than the Married to Medicine lead-in preview, that was scheduled to provide a ratings boost for the 10pm hour. The previous week Married to Medicine’s preview attracted 732,000 (0.40) but on Thursday May 8th could only muster 633,000 (demo 0.20), and this decline seems to be in sync with the ratings reductions it is also seeing on Sundays.

However while Tabatha is beating her M2M lead-in, that’s about her only positive. With just 787,000 viewers tuning in this week (423,000 aged 18-49 – Demo 0.30) her season-to-date deficit with Season 4 is growing larger. Season Four’s Episode S04E06 which aired on a Tuesday and followed a first airing of an episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County attracted 1,056,000 people 2 years & over (646,000 aged 18-49 – Demo 0.50) which means this corresponding episode’s audience was 25% smaller overall and 35% smaller in thew coveted 18-49 viewers.

At the half way stage Tabatha Takes Over is averaging 820,333 viewers (468,833 18-49 – Demo 0.38) and her season-on-season ratings declines are now showing deficits of 17.5% & 21.64% respectively. Read more about S05E06′s ratings via this link

  1. […] the Season 3 average came in at 1,142,143. When you look at it this way, Season 5 represented a -26.39% decline in viewership as compared to Season 3. Clearly, things are not going in the right direction for […]

I LOVE THIS SHOW. It’s better than the other smut shows that are on BRAVO that show wealthy people acting slutty and ignorant. This show shows people getting help with their business so they can survive. The HOUSEWIVES Shows show the wealthy overindulging and quite frankly I think those shows are a DISGRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
