Bravo Ratings Tuesday, April 16th – Don’t Be Tardy… and The Kandi Factory

Don't Be Tardy Kandi Factory

Last night saw the debut of two 30 minute episodes of Kim Zolciak’s second season of her spin off – Don’t Be Tardy …. And it would appear that her viewers weren’t tardy at all. Zolciak’s first episode attracted 1,157,000, 695,000 of which were aged 18 to 49 years (18-49 demo 0.5) people, and more joined at 9.30pm for the second episode, as it was watched by a larger audience of 1,259,000 viewers aged two years and over (18-49 717,000 & demo 0.60).

Great Camera Deals

The premiere episode of her freshman season which aired almost exaclty one year ago on April 26th, 2012 garnered 1,399,000 million viewers and was the third lowest rated episode of that nine episode long season. So no doubt Zolciak will be looking for her audience to grow this season as well.

In our Second Season article we wrote:

As for how well Zolciak will rate this season, we look to Bethenny Frankel’s spin-off for guidance? Frankel’s second season (her first, like Zolciak had also contained a wedding) saw its overall audience drop by 19% from her first; down from 1.8m to 1.45m viewers aged 2+, per episode. If that is replicated by Don’t Be Tardy… , this season that would put Kim’s average at around 1.3m by season’s end, which are still very good ratings for a Bravo TV show. Any higher than that and Zolciak can rightly claim to have bucked Frankel’s downward trend, and she will no doubt get ready for a third season as well.

And so with last night’s two episodes falling by 21.28% from last season’s first two episodes, Kim is currently seeing a similar drop off to Bethenny, but of course, it’s early days still.

One positive impact that we were hoping from Zolciak’s show last night was the boost her audience might bring to her ex RHoA co-star and now Federal Court nemesis; Kandi Burruss’ spin-off; The Kandi Factory. In our weekly projections article we discussed:

With Burruss currently suing Zolciak in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Georgia it will be interesting to see how their ratings battles fares. In Zolciak’s prior season, she provided a 34% audience boost to Kathy Griffin’s freshman season of Kathy, and no doubt despite their little legal difficulties Burruss will be hoping for a similar lift. Both Zolciak’s & Burruss’ shows are produced by True Entertainment and they too will be looking for a boost from Zolciak, as they also produced Platinum Hit, and surely need to see Kandi’s music competition succeed.

The Kandi Factory opened with a very disappointing 671,000 viewers last week, lower than the premiere of Platinum Hit, however last nights audience wasn’t large enough for a Top 100 Cable TV ranking and so we are still trying to track down Kandi’s ratings for her second episode. 7pm UPDATE Presumably thanks to Zolciak’s almost 1.26m viewer lead-in, at 10pm The Kandi Factory, saw a 1,000 viewer increase over last week, as 672,000 viewers, of which 418,000 were aged 18 to 49 years (demo 0.30) watched. Despite it being small, that increase will be met with some relief by Kandi as well as her producers True Entertainment, who also produce Don’t Be Tardy…

At 11pm Andy Cohen held the Tardy After Party on WWHL and in addition to famous wig wearer Harvey Fierstein he also invited on Bravo Media’s famous wig wearer Kim Zolciak. WWHL’s ratings were higher than The Kandi Factory as WWHL managed to rank in the Nightly Cable Top 100 TV shows, as 807,000 viewers (demo 0.4) tuned in at 11pm.

  • Miss Fabulous to you!

Do these ratings only count if you have a Neilson box?

    • Bravo Ratings

Nielsen Ratings are like opinion polls, in that they take a what the believe to representative sample (give them Nielsen boxes) and then extrapolate their viewing habits across the entire US populace.

      • Miss Fabulous to you!

So technically the Neilson ratings aren’t correct b/c not everyone has a Nelison box.

I’d imagine as long as DBT averages over a million views for the season it’ll get a third season. Those are pretty good numbers for Bravo.
