The Real Housewives of New York City – Season 6 Promo

It’s been a long time, but it looks like Bravo Media are finally getting ready for the forgotten Real Housewives franchise; The Real Housewives of New York City to return sometime in 2014.

Last seen on air way back on October 22nd, 2012, RHoNY is the first of the franchise to take a year off Bravo TV screens. After the major cast overhaul resulted in their fifth season being the least watched since their freshman season in early 2008, Bravo Media spent sometime renegotiating cast salaries which resulted in a production stand off.

Save for The Real Housewives of Miami, which has shed viewers each season, last season’s RHoNY was the first of the franchise to start losing viewers from prior seasons, but has since been followed by The Real Housewives of New Jersey & The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills both last season as well as the one currently airing.

One of the challenges that Bravo will face in building the audience for RHoNY again, is that a lot will have changed in the cast members’ lives during the eighteen month off-air hiatus. It has already been confirmed that LuAnn DeLesseps separated with her paramour Jacques Azoulay after filming wrapped which has resulted in re-editing to limit his appearances in the show, in order to make it appear less dated when it finally airs.

The above clip features all six of the returning wives but at just 15 seconds was presumably too short to introduce new cast member Kristen Taekman. Will the long wait have been worth it and are you still excited for RHoNY’s return?

I don’t think RHONY is the first in the franchise to take a year off. Miami ended its first season in April of 2011 and didn’t come back until September of 2012.

Just curious.– has this site died? How come no new post in nearly 2 weeks?

Unless there’s something dramatic to write about as a new story, the ratings are posted each day for the previous night’s programs on each shows’ respective ratings report. For example see The Real Housewives of Atlanta – Season 6 Ratings and at the top you can see the ratings update for last Sunday’s episode.

Good to know — thanks! I do like to check for here new stories..

agreed Mike. I predict this season won’t rate low enough for Bravo to cancel RHONY, but will rate low enough for there to be another cast shakeup for season 7.

Maybe Bravo should somehow try to emulate VHI with the Love & Hip Hop NY’s current season. I’ve been shocked by that show’s high ratings, when they struggled last season. L&HHNY added a castmember from the more successful Atlanta franchise (who served to bring in viewers clearly but they haven’t been kept by her (K Michelle) as she’s barely appeared. Could Bravo cast a dismissed Atlanta, New Jersey or Beverly Hills HW? Cynthia Bailey, Dina Manzo or Brandi Glanville seem like the best options. Something to think about maybe.

Neither Cynthia nor Brandi are dismissed Housewives… And none of those mentioned have the ratings pull to achieve HIGHER ratings than they receive on their respective franchise

I think the ladies may have screwed themselves by delaying their season due to holding out for more cash. All the Housewives series, except RHOA, seems to be lower in the ratings and I don’t expect NY to do any better after the first couple of shows.
