Toned Up – Season 1 Ratings

Toned Up Logo

Updated Monday February 10th after S01E07 and S01E08 aired at 10pm and 10:30pm on Thursday, February 6th.

The final two episodes of Toned Up petered out & off Bravo Media’s Thursday night schedule last week, and after the prior week’s 5th episode scored a season high, the finale, which aired at 10:30pm scored a season low. At 10pm 541,000 viewers watched episode seven, some 85,000 fewer than those who had tuned in at the same time last week with 82,000 fewer in the 18 to 49 year age group (326,000 versus 408,000).

As happened in the prior week, as the clock struck 10:30pm many of those who had watched the preceding 1/2 hour switch over as the finale episode S01E08 could only muster an audience of 467,000 overall with 290,000 of those aged 18-49; both being their lowest ratings in their freshman season.

That meant that their season closed averaging 531,750 per episode with just 351,375 of them aged 18 to 49 years, and ratings like those in prime time are no where near the sort of numbers that Bravo Media look for. I’d say based on that, Toned Up will be turfed off Bravo TV’s schedule for good and won’t be returning next year.

Full Season Summary

Bravo Media is dipping their toes back into the Reality TV fitness market (after Jackie Warner’s two short lived shows Workout and Thintervention with Toned Up which stars Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson and who, according to Bravo Media’s press release “have taken the web by storm with their website ToneItUp.com which receives over 1.8 million unique visitors a month and over 600 Twitter mentions per hour.

Quite how their Twitter account ToneItUp could attract that many hourly mentions given they only have 132,000 followers, is a little hard to understand but perhaps that number includes their own 37,000 tweets, which in the 5 years they’ve been on Twitter works out at almost one every hour.

Toned Up (which originally had a working title of BLANK) will air at 10:30pm on Thursdays and be served up in 30 minute episodes, which should mean just as the audience is getting into full workout mode, they can take a breather and watch the 11pm airing of Watch What Happens Live

Toned Up” is produced by Fishbowl Worldwide Media with Vin Di Bona, Beth Greenwald, Bruce Gersh, Susan Levison, and Stephanie Bloch-Chambers serving as Executive Producers.

Prior Updates

Updated on Friday January 31th after S01E05 and S01E06 aired at 10pm and 10:30pm on Thursday, January 30th Bookmark this page and check back regularly for updates.

Not surprisingly given the 5th episode of Toned Up received its highest lead-in of the season (although disappointingly it came from one of the lowest rated episodes this season of Millionaire Matchmaker) the 10pm airing posted a season high, at least as far as its total viewer count, this week. 626,000 viewers watched episode five, some 41,000 more than tuned in for the second episode however with only 408,000 of them aged between 18 & 49 years it fell short by 8,000 in that demographic when compared with the same second episode.

Unfortunately though as the clock struck 10:30pm 114,000 of those who had watched the preceding 1/2 hour switch over as S01E06 could only muster an audience of 512,000 overall with 317,000 of those aged 18-49. The later number, 317,000 matching the season low in the 18-49 demographic also obtained by the 4th episode on January 23rd.

With just next week’s two episodes still to air the season-to-date average is currently 541,000 per episode with just 365,833 of them aged 18 to 49 years, and they are no where near the sort of numbers that Bravo Media would look for when considering whether a second season of Tone Up might be commissioned.

Updated on Friday January 24th after S01E04 aired at 10:30pm on Thursday, January 23rd

Bravo Media didn’t even wait to see this week’s episode’s ratings to decide to burn off this show from Bravo TV’s schedule as soon as possible. Karena & Katrina’s fourth episode attracted just 468,000 viewers with 317,000 of those aged 18 to 49 years (demo 0.30) and Toned Up could only manage to retain 76.72% of Courtney Loves Dallas lead-in audience, which also saw its ratings decline this week.

Now that the relatively poorly rating Courtney Loves Dallas has concluded Toned Up moves next week to airing two episodes; one at 10pm and again at 10:30pm. Then the last two episodes will air at the same time the following week, which means their 8 episode run will be done with in just 5 weeks.

Updated on Wednesday January 22nd after S01E03 aired at 10:30pm on Thursday, January 16th

With the relatively poorly rating Courtney Loves Dallas airing at 10pm and acting as the lead-in show to Toned Up, it’s no surprise that this latest offering from Bravo TV isn’t exactly drawing in viewers. It’s difficult for shows that commence on the half hour, to attract their own audience and at 10:30pm last Thursday Karena & Katrina’s third episode attracted just 532,000 viewers with 379,000 of those aged 18 to 49 years (demo 0.30), Toned Up held on to 84.04% of Courtney Loves Dallas’ lead-in audience which at least was in improvement of the 76.47% that they managed to retain the week prior.

Updated on Friday January 10th after S01E02 aired at 10:30pm on Thursday, January 9th

With both Millionaire Matchmaker and Courtney Loves Dallas posting their own season highs at 9pm and 10 pm respectively, it was no surprise that for its second episode Toned Up also did too. At 10:30pm their second episode attracted 585,000 viewers with 416,000 of those aged 18 to 49 years (demo 0.30), Toned Up held on to 76.47% of Courtney Loves Dallas’ total audience but a higher 88.14% of her audience aged 18-49 years, and both Karena & Katrina should be happy with that.

Updated on Thursday January 9th after S01E01 aired at 10:30pm on Thursday, January 2nd

Given that Toned Up has as its lead-in Courtney Loves Dallas (prior to Toned Up - the lowest rated new show on Bravo TV) it’s not surprising that the premiere episode only attracted 523,000 viewers on January 2nd. With 358,000 of those aged 18 to 49 years (demo 0.20), Toned Up held on to 78.41% of Courtney’s total audience but a higher 83.64% of her audience aged 18-49 years.

So other than the horrible time slot and atrocious Courtney show as a lead-in (I couldn’t even get through a full episode trying to waste time before Tone Up aired.), Katrina and Karena encourage the Tone It Up Community to unite and have viewing parties and get to know local TIU girls in your area. That definitely takes away from individual viewer ratings. They also have a very large international presence and TONS of girls who are disappointed they couldn’t watch the show when broadcasted in the US. Several people have found ways to watch the episodes, but not at the time that Bravo broadcasts…which, apparently, is what counts.

I kind of like this show. Too bad it airs at a really bad time.

These girls maay not be lovers, but they sure are acting very sexual with each other, may be just for ratings

They are best friends and roommates. I’m not sexually interested in any of my girlfriends, but I can completely relate to the friendship they have…and I’ve never been on film.
