As I expected the word of mouth buzz paid off this week as Jersey Belle’s second episode posted significant ratings gains for its second episode. Certainly it has helped that Jersey Belle’s been scheduled to air just as the ninth season of The Real Housewives of Orange County builds to its finale, but just as important this week Jersey Belle was able to increase its viewer retention percentage of that RHOC lead-in.

At 10pm Monday 98,000 extra viewers (1 13.32% increase) tuned in and the P2+ demographic totaled 834,000 versus the premiere episode’s 736,000 viewers with Jamie Primak’s second episode improving its retention of RHOC’s audience from 37.28% to 41.04% this week. In the more important P18-49 demographic only 35.14% of RHOC’s viewers stayed on but that was an increase from the premiere’s 32.81% and Jersey Belle’s younger audience grew to 414,000 this week – up 5.08% & 20,000 on the week. While this these increases aren’t massive it’s not that often that a freshman show builds its audience in its second week, as often some viewers who tune in for the premiere decide it’s not their cup of tea and don’t return for subsequent episodes. Through two episodes Jersey Belle is averaging 785,000 P2+ viewers per episode with 404,000 of them P18-49, but still along way short of the 500,000 it needs in the P18-49 demographic to ensure a sophomore season renewal. Southern Charm was a slow starter as well and at the same stage; after two episodes its P2+ audience was 7.5% larger than Jersey Belle but in the more important P18-49 Southern Charm was 23.12% ahead in that demographic. The ratings table on the next page shows, compares this new Bravo TV to three other Monday night shows in their freshman seasons; Ladies of London, Southern Charm and Newlyweds; The First Year.

Full Season Summary

Taking over the 10pm Monday time slot after Ladies of London’s freshman season concludes, Jersey Belle, which debuts Monday August 4th at 10pm will also receive the benefit of the lead-in provided by The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 9.

The summer season on Bravo TV is often a time when new shows that Bravo Media don’t expect to be break out hits get their trial run. Last July & August Below Deck aired in this time-slot and to the surprise of many including Bravo Media executives it became their summer break out hit and getting an immediate renewal for a sophomore season. Whether “Jersey Belle” can replicate that feat remains to be seen but sometimes a duck out of water (Jersey Girl transplanted to Alabama) can be enjoyable to a reality TV viewing audience.

Via Bravo PR’s press release “You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can’t take Jersey out of the girl. Bravo Media follows outspoken New Jersey native and entertainment publicist Jaime Primak Sullivan as she navigates life in the upscale Southern suburb of Mountain Brook, Alabama in the new docu-series “Jersey Belle,” premiering Monday, August 4 at 10p.m. ET/PT. Jaime’s life was turned upside down after she married Michael Sullivan, Mountain Brook’s “most eligible bachelor.” Surrounded by a fabulous group of girlfriends who want nothing more than to sculpt her into a Southern darling, Jaime tries to fit in to a world that is not ready for an unapologetic woman who likes to speak her mind—often with hilarious results.

Watch for a sneak peek:

Jersey Belle” is produced by Authentic Entertainment with Lauren Lexton, Tom Rogan, Sonia Slutsky and Dave Rupel serving as Executive Producers. Jaime Primak Sullivan, Consulting Producer.

I LOVE this show but I also feel sorry for poor Jamie. Those southern ladies are nice enough but I have NO IDEA who she lives down there! Come on home Jamie, come on home!

I find it kind of appalling in a humorous way and think Sullivan has done a great job of highlighting southern culture through the eyes of a ‘yankee’…really saddened by the stiff faces and stiff upper lips of all the southern belles but I know I myself was raised to have a limited range of responses to each situation. I think Sullivan is a great observer and the contrast with her own p.r. life on trips to LA is a nice change of pace. She is interesting enough to be the focus but she also give plenty of time on camera to her friends and has apparently assured them that it is okay to disagree with her/criticize her in their on camera interviews. I think she’s doing a great job with it and this show is way better than I ever expected it to be.
