Yesterday Bravo Media announced an impressive and LONG list of returning shows as well as new pickups and new shows going into development.

Much pertinent information can often be gleaned from what is not said in the Bravo Upfronts press release and this includes which television shows weren’t mentioned as getting a new season. The list below details those that aired in 2012, with links to their episodic ratings, which presumably weren’t renewed for the coming season. A quick look at these ratings (all via Nielsen Media and are Live + Same Day) pretty much explains why each respective show hasn’t gotten another season. Read more

via Press Release – IT’S “BRAVO’S BIG PREMIERE WEEK,” and What Will Nielsen’s Fall Sweeps Mean For Bravo Media?

Neilsen's Quarterly Sweeps Run Oct 26 through Nov 21 2012 Sweeps By Bravo

Neilsen’s Quarterly Sweeps
Run Oct 26 through Nov 21

After a pretty quiet first week of the Fall Sweeps conducted by Nielsen, Bravo Media is rolling out its big guns in the hope of getting some ratings action.

Debuting Sunday November 4th at 9/8c, is the fourth season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta whose third season premiere racked up an enormous 2.9m viewers (18-49 demo 1.5). At the time that was a record premiere rating for any Real Housewives’ franchise until the fourth season premiere of RHoNJ exceeded it by 61,000. Bravo Media will be hoping that RHoA reclaims their record however with parts of the North Eastern USA still suffering the after effects of Hurricane Sandy, that might not happen. Read more

With the Fall 2012 Sweeps about to be conducted Bravo is returning two big guns to its schedule as well as debuting a slew of new programming. Although Nielsen reports ratings for every day of the year, during the four sweeps periods, they survey an additional 2m households by way of a paper diary and therefore are able to analyse much more data. This extra information is then used by the networks, cable channels as well as cable systems and advertisers to set ads rates for the coming year.

The Fall sweeps period kicks off October 25th and runs through November 21st and during this time Bravo will be premiering four returning series and two freshman shows.

While the move to 10/9c didn’t seem to do much for the ratings of Tuesday’s Flipping Out, it certainly seemed to give Andy Cohen and WWHL a necessary boost. The 3rd episode of this sixth season of FO dropped 27k from last week with 1,197,000 viewers but held at 0.50 in the 18-49 demo. As the comparable episode from last season only scored an audience of 949,000 and despite this episodes’ week-on-week decline the season to date average improved to 15.02% over season five at 1,255,667. The 18-49 demo for all three episodes has consistently stayed at an 0.50, however that’s a drop of -16.67% versus last season, which can’t be going down too well with advertisers. Read more
