Bravo Upfronts – Which Bravo TV Shows from 2012 Won’t Be Returning

Cancelled By Bravo

Yesterday Bravo Media announced an impressive and LONG list of returning shows as well as new pickups and new shows going into development.

Much pertinent information can often be gleaned from what is not said in the Bravo Upfronts press release and this includes which television shows weren’t mentioned as getting a new season. The list below details those that aired in 2012, with links to their episodic ratings, which presumably weren’t renewed for the coming season. A quick look at these ratings (all via Nielsen Media and are Live + Same Day) pretty much explains why each respective show hasn’t gotten another season. Read more

Married to Medicine Which Debuted on Bravo This Week Bravo Ratings

Debuted on Bravo TV This Week

Without any doubt the Big Bravo story of the week was the highly successful debut of Married To Medicine, which became the highest rated premiere for any Bravo TV show (excluding spin-offs). We had predicted that for its premiere it would retain between 60% & 70% of the strong lead-in provided by The Real Housewives of Atlanta and it was towards the top end of that, holding on to 67.5% of it. With an opening audience of 1,892,000 (1,196,000 aged 18 to 49 years – Demo 0.9), it beat out the Season 1 premier of The Real Housewives of New Jersey which debuted to 1,720,000 in May 2009, but not Bethenny Frankel’s spin-off. Frankel’s solo show grew out of the third season of The Real Housewives of New York; and in its first season was called Bethenny’s Getting Married?, which attracted an audience of 2,096,000 (1,350,000 aged 18-49, Demo 1.0) in June 2010. Although Bravo Media tout themselves as offering five nights of original programming, Thursday nights have for a long time been their weakest night; both for the number of hours of original programming aired as well as their ratings. Yesterday, in what may turn out to be an astute programming move, next Tuesday’s episode of Millionaire Matchmaker was aired at 10pm, and gave a great boost to the two programs that followed.

With Patti Stanger’s Matchmaker added to the schedule and drawing 986,000 viewers at 10pm, that propelled Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live to his best Thursday ratings in a long time and it was up almost 17% versus the previous Thursday. In fact, the 664,000 that tuned into to watch Caroline Manzo and Bobby Moyhnihan was even higher than the number who tuned into to see Kathy Griffin when she was on Tuesday night (also following an episode of Matchmaker). This week was pretty eventful for Bravo Ratings as RHoBH faced off against Dancing With The Stars, Patti Stanger hit season high ratings and Brad Goreski out-rated his former boss & now arch-nemesis Rachel Zoe. In late night; Sunday’s Fashion Queens debuted strongly, Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live ratings grew 7% week-on-week and even Kathy Griffin came off her season lows.

Without a doubt the biggest news of the week was The Rachel Zoe Project’s ratings falling below those of It’s A Brad, Brad World on Wednesday. Now a source “close to Zoe” has reportedly complained to Radar Online, that this is all the fault of Bravo Executives and stated:

Rachel thinks it was a very calculated maneuver by Bravo to run Brad’s show after hers, and thinks it’s negatively impacting her fashion empire. Brad has been portrayed in the press in a very sympathetic way, and an all around nice guy. Rachel believes that Brad’s show running after hers is just a negative reminder to their bad break-up when he quit working for her to embark out on his own.

Ratings Slide As Week Progresses
Week Ended Thursday March 14

To call Bravo Media’s Bravo Ratings a weekly slide that starts with the high of The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Sunday at 8pm and ends with the dismal ratings of Kathy at 11:3opm on Thursday, would be an understatement. To be fair, Kathy Griffin having ratings that low at 11:30pm, isn’t as bad as when she was getting similar numbers when she previously held the 10pm time slot. Read more
