Bravo Upfronts – Which Bravo TV Shows from 2012 Won’t Be Returning

Cancelled By Bravo

Yesterday Bravo Media announced an impressive and LONG list of returning shows as well as new pickups and new shows going into development.

Much pertinent information can often be gleaned from what is not said in the Bravo Upfronts press release and this includes which television shows weren’t mentioned as getting a new season. The list below details those that aired in 2012, with links to their episodic ratings, which presumably weren’t renewed for the coming season. A quick look at these ratings (all via Nielsen Media and are Live + Same Day) pretty much explains why each respective show hasn’t gotten another season. Read more

Squeezed in between the finale of Top Chef Masters’ 4th season and the upcoming premiere of Top Chef Seattle (Season 10), comes Life After Top Chef which features four TC alumni Richard Blais and Spike Mendelsohn from Season 4, Fabio Viviani (Season 5) and Jennifer Carroll (Season 6).

In October 2009 Bravo announced that Bethenny Frankel, Christian Siriano and Fabio Viviani had all been tapped for spin offs. As any Bravo Ratings reader knows, Bethenny’s spin off lasted three seasons. Christian Siriano’s series was scrapped but Bravo did manage to get a one hour special from it but until Life After Top Chef nothing has ever eventuated out of Fabiano Viviani’s deal, until now. Avery Pursell – Winner

Last Wednesday night saw Avery Pursell in Uruguay winning the 1st season of Around the World in 80 Plates but the ratings winners of the night were Josh, Josh & Madison. For the first time in the 5th season of Million Dollar Listing – LA, it’s 9pm airing managed to exceed the 1m viewer mark, coming in with a total audience of 1,011,000 and with 0.50 in the 18-49 demo for their 6th episode. While it’s great that they breached one million, the comparable episode in the fourth season pulled 1,181,000 viewers and therefore this latest season is still trending downwards and is averaging 912,667 versus last season’s 1,025,000 at the same stage.

At 10pm the 1st (and only?) season of Around The World in 80 Plates reached its final destination and Avery managed to beat out fellow finalists, Steve ‘Nookie’ Postal and Liz Garrett for the win. What didn’t turn out to be a ratings winner though was this particular show. The final episode was only the third highest rated (out of 10) with 830,000 viewers and 0.30 in the 18-49 demo. Overall the season averaged 750,600 viewers with a 0.34% of 18 to 49 year old’s tuning in. To put that in comparison Chef Roble & Co in its freshman season averaged 1,155,000 with 0.54%, and that would have been a much cheaper show for Bravo to produce.

Bravo Ratings – Bravo TV News & Projections Week July 15 – July 19, 2012

RHOC Reunion Part 2
Airs Mon, Tues & Thur this week

With Sunday’s ratings not released until Tuesdays at Noon Eastern, we turn our attention at Bravo Ratings on Mondays to the schedule for the coming week and make a few predictions on how various shows might rate. The original programming kicks off on Sundays with RHoNJ and this 4th season has seen some wildly fluctuating ratings. 11 episodes in, four episodes have scored in the 2.2-2.3m range but overall the season average to date is just shy of 2.5m, meaning that other episodes have scored much higher. There’s been a 32% swing between the highest and lowest rated episode which shows some serious volatility in the audience. Of course, as Bravo repeats each episode several times this allows viewers to pick and chose their own time slots (as of course do DVRs & Tivos) but it also detracts from the water cooler buzz that has helped make some of Bravo shows ‘must watch’ when it first airs. For this week’s 12th episode of RHoNJ S4 we’re seeing a little slippage in the buzz and estimating 2.2m-2.4m. Read more

Bravo Ratings Results for Week July 8 – July 12, 2012

This week the OC Housewives were just pipped at the post, as despite the explosive attack of the birds at Part 1 of the RHOC Reunion, a regular episode of of RHoNJ managed to be the top rated show on Bravo last week. Here’s the full weekly breakdown via Bravo Ratings.

In our projections for this week, we estimated 2.5-2.7m for RHoNJ and it came in at 2.5m. For the MeGo / Iron Mike duel on Sunday’s WWHL we overestimated, thinking that Mike Tyson’s 2m+ Twitter followers would boost Andy Cohen’s audience. It came in at just 1.392m, well short of our 1.5-1.8m range. Read more
