Bravo programming execs showed they’ve largely written off any chance of significantly improved ratings for this season’s rejigged RHoNY, by letting it air against sister network’s NBC’s prime-time Olympic coverage, something they didn’t allow with the previous night’s RHoNJ.

It’s almost as if the RHoNY cast were asking Bravo Execs whether this episode’s scandalous title ‘You Want to What Me in the Where?’ was in recognition of this season’s frankly dismal ratings for a once stellar franchise member. None-the-less a respectable (given this season’s ratings) 1,441,000 (demo 0.6) viewers tuned in to hear the StumbleBums shock some of the Housewives with their ode to unconventional sex practices. Finally, it seems RHoNY is picking up some steam as we enter the half way stage of this 5th season. Monday’s ninth episode, built further on the previous week’s gaining an additional 46,000 viewers, as 1,553,000 tuned in to watch George’s erectile dysfunctional poke at Sonja. As for last week’s comparison, the comparable episode last season was viewed by 2.283m and so despite this week’s improved ratings the season-on-season comparison is still down 25.69% in total viewers and 34.52% in the 18-49 demo.

Ratings Relief for
the RHoNY Ladies

Finally some ratings relief for the RHoNY ladies (as well as Bravo TV execs) as the 8th episode delivered the 2nd highest audience after the premiere episode. For last night’s 9/8c airing 1,507,000 viewers tuned in and as important the 18-49 demo climbed up to 0.70. Hopefully with that larger audience seeing the extended season trailer tacked onto the end of the episode, they will have had their interest piqued and will continue to tune in each week. As it turns out the season upon season average continued its slide as the comparable episode in Season 4 was set in Morocco and was watched by just under 2.3m. Read more

With Sunday’s ratings not released until Tuesdays at Noon Eastern, we turn our attention at Bravo Ratings on Mondays to the schedule for the coming week and make a few predictions on how various shows might rate. The original programming kicks off on Sundays with RHoNJ and this 4th season has seen some wildly fluctuating ratings. 11 episodes in, four episodes have scored in the 2.2-2.3m range but overall the season average to date is just shy of 2.5m, meaning that other episodes have scored much higher. There’s been a 32% swing between the highest and lowest rated episode which shows some serious volatility in the audience. Of course, as Bravo repeats each episode several times this allows viewers to pick and chose their own time slots (as of course do DVRs & Tivos) but it also detracts from the water cooler buzz that has helped make some of Bravo shows ‘must watch’ when it first airs. For this week’s 12th episode of RHoNJ S4 we’re seeing a little slippage in the buzz and estimating 2.2m-2.4m. Read more

Considering that RHoNJ dropped 20% this Sunday from its previous showing, RHoNY did surprisingly well all things considered and only dropped 5.2% against its fourth episode . The fifth episode of the 5th season of RHoNY did score a new season low at 1,386,000 but more worryingly dropped to just 0.40 in the 18-49 demo. In our weekly projections we’d suggested a range of 1.2-1.4m and so it came in at just below our upper estimate. Read more
