Bravo Announces 15 New and 16 Returning Shows

Bravo Media

This morning Bravo Media announced their new and returning programs in time for their May 2014 Upfronts. We’re still wading through their announcement but note that it would appear that The Real Housewives of Miami is no more, that Tabatha Coffey’s five year run on Bravo TV has come to an end and as expected Phaedra Parks spin off “Rich People’s Problems” that was announced this time last year has been scrapped.

Bravo Media certainly has something to celebrate today with the release of Monday night’s Cable Ratings as The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills scored their highest ratings of their third season. For the 9pm airing, a season high 2,352,000 viewers tuned in plus with a 1.10 in the 18-49 demo, that’s the first 2m+ audience of this season and also pushes their season-to-date average above that mark. After last week’s third episode. the RHoBH wives held the distinction of being the only returning Bravo series to be beating its prior season and they’ve consolidated that position even further this week. As much as previous season’s ratings are hurting comparisons for most shows currently airing on Bravo TV, there is one partial exception, and that’s RHoBH. Its second season got off to a very strong start, as many tuned in to see the first episode and to watch how Bravo Media would handle the show in light of the then recent suicide. Several subsequent episodes of that season saw large ratings reductions, and it is against those lows that this third season is now competing. Read more

As we wrote last week, Bravo Media held back all of their big guns for the second week of Nielsen’s Fall Sweeps and apart from The Real of Housewives of Atlanta’s season five premiere getting off to a record start, the rest of that week was best swept away. So, how did the third week go?

Unfortunately, not only wasn’t it any better but when compared like-for-like with the programming for the same week in 2011, total audience levels declined by 18%. In the equivalent week in 2011 Bravo TV aired a total of 8 hours of original programming over four nights, versus last week’s 12 hours over five nights. The additions being; five versus two episodes of Watch What Happens Live, this year two episodes of The Real Housewives of Miami aired, whereas in 2011 no original programming was aired on Thursday, November 17th and the last difference is LOLwork added on Wednesday’s, giving that night 3 hours of first run programming. With Season Two’s second episode of RHoBH dropping 29% if its premiere audience, the bar was set pretty low for this season’s second episode, but with it pulling 1,999,000 viewers last night, it managed to gain an impressive 10.5% on last week’s premiere viewers (conversely, Sunday night’s 2nd episode of RHoA lost 21% of its premiere ratings). Because of last year’s massive drop, RHoBH’s season-on-season average is now in positive territory by 1.87%; 1,904,000 per episode against last year’s 1,869,000, but it’s still down by 10% in the 18-49 demo (0.90 versus 1.00).
