Like a shopping mall needs an anchor tenant, so a TV network needs a massive hit show, or a tent pole as its known in the business; a show that props of the rest of that particular night’s programming. For Bravo Media The Real Housewives of Atlanta admirably and incredibly successfully performs that role.

In the six hours of television aired on Bravo TV between 7pm & 1am Sunday night, November 18th, four hours were dedicated to RHoA programming; one hour to last week’s S06E02 and three to this week’s third episode of this sixth season. A massive 7.3m viewers tuned into those four hours RHoA with the only hour of new programming amassing over half of that, 3,697,000 viewers at the 8pm hour.

At 9pm Thicker Than Water managed to increase its RHoA retention percentage from last week’s 46.84% to this week’s 49.93%, as it had 1,837,000 viewers at 9pm, a figure almost matched by the 10pm RHoA repeat with 1,712,000 viewers aged 2 years and over. Both the 9 & 10pm hours had 18-49 demo ratings of 0.80. Read more

Updated Tuesday, March 25th 2014, after S02E18 aired in prime time at 10:30pm on Sunday March 23rd 2014. Bookmark this page and check back for regular updates.

Due to a special 90 minute reunion episode of Blood Sweat & Heels Sunday night, Fashion Queens gained its first prime time airing as it was used to fill the slot between BS&H ending and WWHL starting at 11pm. With it scoring a respectable 1,330,000 viewers (18-49 Demo 0.60), it did reasonably well but not as well as the 1,452,000 (18-49 Demo 0.60) people who had tuned in the previous week at 11.30pm. On that occasion it had the benefit of WWHL’s lead-in of 1.93m audience, whereas this week BS&H could only provide 1.56m.

Despite that drop their second season average continues to increase and is now at 1,161,722 viewers overall (18-49 demo 0.48); which are audience increases of 24.04% overall and 26.59% (18-49 demo) when compared with their freshman season which ran for just 11 episodes between March & June 2013.

Full Season Summary

After an incredibly successful freshman season between March and June 2013 it was no surprise that Bravo Media commissioned a second season of Fashion Queens to air this fall.

Bravo Media Kicks Off a Strong Q4 w/ Nene & New Atlanta but What About WWHL?

Bravo Media

For Bravo Media the fourth quarter of 2014 should have begun with the strong ratings of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, as its reunion episodes have historically attracted between 3.4m to 3.6m viewers, but with this season’s only gaining 2.5m and 2.1m and then the Tell All’s dropping to 950k & 1.5m, plus the continued mediocre ratings of The Real Housewives of Miami, it’s been a comparatively weak first month of Q4, so far.
